Influencing healthier and more sustainable dietary behaviours through planting and harvesting food-producing trees and hedges in the UK

This paper, published in February 2024, documents the evidence base related to community-grown food-bearing trees. It explores the evidence and recommendations for how food-bearing trees and hedges can provide beneficial green spaces for health and well-being, support healthy, sustainable, locally sourced foods, and mitigate inequalities.

Health of the Next Generation: Good Food for Children 

In January 2024, the Food SIG developed this report in association with key public health partners. The Summary report for policy-makers, which explores simple steps to extend existing Government programmes on childhood nutrition and support the health of our next generation, can be viewed here. The Faculty position on Ultra-Processed Foods

In June 2023, the Food SIG developed a position paper on ultra-processed foods. The final paper, which is based on in-depth research and discussions with key partners in this space, can be viewed here.

Food and COVID-19 

This discussion paper, written in 2020, provides an overview of the FPH position on Food and Covid-19, the related issues, and recommended measures. COVID-19 added to the mix of environmental, social and economic challenges already facing the food system in the UK, and the Faculty viewed public health as central to this process.
