How the SIG works
The AI & Digital Public Health Special Interest Group (SIG) has been established to offer a broad cross-cutting perspective of the impact, opportunities, and issues of new technologies across the entirety of public health practice.
Our Aims
- Bring together FPH members to share knowledge, resources, and expertise in AI and digital public health.
- Advocate for the use of AI and digital tools to improve public health.
- Develop educational resources for FPH members on AI and digital public health.
How members can get involved in the SIG’s activities
- The SIG will hold quarterly meetings open to all members.
- The SIG will send a quarterly newsletter to the email address used to apply to the SIG.
- Members can volunteer to lead or contribute to any of the SIG activities. If you would like to contribute to a SIG project, please email Chairs.
- SIG Chairs may contact members directly to seek advice or input on the SIG’s work.
- The SIG may generate projects for public health specialty registrars.
Our Structure and Processes
- The SIG must have a Chair (MFPH or higher) and may have additional co-chairs. Chairs are elected from within the SIG membership for a maximum of two three-year terms.
- There are no restrictions on membership numbers, but at least five FPH members with voting rights are required. All members must be FPH members.
- An inactive SIG for over 12 months may be closed.
- The SIG must adhere to all FPH policies and protocols but is responsible for its own decision-making processes.
- The SIG may apply for independent funding streams to support the delivery of the workplan.
Our Reporting Requirements
- The SIG reports to the FPH Health Improvement Committee.
- The SIG will develop an annual work plan, and report on progress by submission of a mid-year progress report annual final report.
- All public-facing work needs approval from the Health Improvement Committee.
- The SIG will work in collaboration with the FPH Communications Manager on any media activity (excluding ad-hoc social media). Contact David Parkinson (davidparkinson@fph.org.uk) for communications support.
