Public Health Spaces: Good Public Health Practice 2024

8th October 2024, 4:00pm - 5:00pm , Online

For this edition of our members-only Public Health Spaces sessions we are joined by Faculty Registrar Dr. Ellis Friedman, Assistant Registrar Aimee Stimpson, and UKPHR Chief Executive Jessica Lichtenstein, who will present on the forthcoming revision of Good Public Health Practice.

Due to be published in October 2024, this is the third edition of Good Public Health Practice, updating the standards of practice for all registered public health specialists and practitioners in the UK.

The revised guidance has been developed in conjunction with cross-sector partners including UKHSA, OHID, UKPHR, DHSC, and representatives from all four UK Nations.

This Public Health Spaces session is an opportunity to learn about the new guidance, which is intended to promote and support good public health practice, assisting public health professionals, colleagues, and employers to understand what good public health practice should look like.

The updated guidance in Good Public Health Practice covers four key areas:

  1. Knowledge, skills and development
  2. Patients, partnership and communication
  3. Colleagues, culture and safety
  4. Trust and professionalism

Key changes to this edition include a renewed focus on behaviours and values to reflect the unique ethical domain of the public health profession.

Following the presentation there will be a Q&A session, giving FPH members the opportunity to ask questions and explore how the new guidance will impact their practice.

This session will be chaired by the FPH Vice President Professor Tracy Daszkiewicz. The biographies of all speakers are available here

FPH Members can register via the FPH Members Portal.
