Poverty stigma

3rd June 2025, 1:00pm - 2:00pm , Online

During this webinar, attendees will hear from the Wales Centre for Public Policy and the Tackling Poverty Manager at Swansea Council on what we know about poverty stigma, its causes and consequences, and what can be done to prevent and address it.

This webinar will draw from lived and learned expertise – from people in Swansea and from a national Poverty Stigma Insight Network – as well as from international evidence. The event will also explore how the language used can help people on a low income feel either included or excluded.

Through this webinar, the FPH Poverty SIG aim to inspire public health professionals to reflect on what we can do as individuals and as communities to create stigma-free futures for those experiencing poverty and how we can work together to ‘poverty proof’ our policies and public services.
