Distinguished Lecture Series: Health in an ageing society

8th December 2023, 10:30am - 12:00pm , Online

Our society is getting older. People living longer is a testament to advances in public health and medical technology and should be celebrated. The challenge for modern society is to ensure that older age is as healthy, independent and enjoyable as possible.

In this lecture, the second of our series of distinguished lectures on the future of public health, we are delighted to invite the Chief Medical Officer for England, Professor Chris Whitty, to discuss the findings from his latest annual report Health in an Ageing Society.

Professor Whitty will discuss different approaches to maintaining independence in later life and the main challenges in doing this in England. Joining the event will be a distinguished panel including;

  • Professor Kevin Fenton (FPH President)
  • Professor Graham Ellis (Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Scotland)
  • Dr Sebastian Walsh (NIHR Doctoral Fellow)
  • Dr Amrita Jesurasa (National Lead for Prevention in Wales)
