Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Conference 2019: Saving Hearts and Minds
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains one of the leading causes of premature mortality and morbidity in the UK. The focus of the conference this year is on saving both hearts and minds, as what's good for your heart is also good for your mind. The conference aims to facilitate the sharing of knowledge, research and evaluation in CVD prevention. It aims to showcase both local and national good practice, specifically covering physiological high risk factors for CVD, as England is currently performing poorly on the detection and management of atrial fibrillation, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. It also aims to showcase novel practice in the success of the NHS Health Check, which is a cardiovascular health check for 40-70 year olds. The conference will also cover wider non-communicable disease prevention such as diabetes, dementia, as well as mental health. The importance of lifestyle risk factors will also be highlighted. There will be a mix of standard presentation-style sessions, workshops, discussion sessions and training sessions. The patient voice will also run through the day.
This conference will be accredited for 5 CPD credits.
